My senior year of college I took a restaurant graphics class and the final product of that was less than adequate.
So I decided I wanted to redo it, and make something that had more substance. So I created Cottontail Rescue and Cafe. Just like a cat cafe, this business focuses on rescuing stray and abandoned rabbits and helping them get healthy again, whilst being a fun and relaxing place for people to pet adorable bunnies and enjoy a coffee.
The design process started with research and trying to figure out a logo. I thought of all the obvious choices, carrots, rabbit ears, bunny noses, grass, hay, a barn, coffee mug etc etc.
Then while I was scrolling through pictures of my own rabbits, I found a photo of one of them doing what many call “loafing”. This is where they tuck their front paws underneath them and they look like a little bread loaf. And then, BINGO, I had my logo. Making sure to incorporate a heart to symbolize love and rescue, and the bread shape for the food, and the ears and eye to make the bunny message clear. After that, I incorporated hand drawn patterns and vibrant colors that equate to grass, bread and pink bunny noses.
